Supr-Maiz - Waxy-Maiz Hybrids |
| |
Because we market two types of dent corn hybrids, the letter prefix identifies Moews hybrids as SM (Supr-Maiz) regular yellow dent hybrids or WM (Waxy-Maiz) Waxy dent hybrids. |
Both types of hybrids are developed and tested through the same Research program ... both are high yielding and agronomically sound ... both can be used for feeding or marketing through regular channels. But Waxy-Maiz kernels have some special characteristics and values which should be explained in more detail. Please see "The Story of Waxy Corn" page for a brief discussion of Waxy Corn. |

VT3 |
| |
| VT3 represents "Vector Technology Triple Stack" and the base genetics of these hybrids are the very best available. YieldGard VT scientists are on to the next technological breakthrough: a more-precise insertion process of multiple traits to create performance-enhanced stacked trait products that are even better than the first generation of YieldGard products. These next-generation products are called YieldGard VT. We can now produce stacked trait hybrids with better individual traits. |
| |
| On the conventional side, over half our production is composed of conventionals such as 2415, 3611, 3636, 3766 and 3896 being the high-volume hybrids in new production. 90% of our production is irrigated. |

| Reference Terms |
The information given for each hybrid on our web pages is designed to give you the best reference data possible. Ratings are based on comparisons with other Moews hybrids, not other brands. They are based on normal response under good growing conditions, with adequate fertility for expected yields, and good weed and insect control. Keep in mind that these characteristics are "relative" in nature and are intended only as a guide, rather than an absolute. Here are the categories which may require clarification: |
| |
Normal Seed Size - The historical gradeout of a hybrid. The size which is listed first indicates the genetic makeup of the hybrid and in which we expect to have the largest quantity of seed. Listed as Small, Medium, and Large. |
| |
Normal Plant and Ear Height - Our MEDIUM rating refers to a corn plant 8 ½ to 9 feet tall, which places an ear 3 ½ to 4 feet above ground. Other terms are relative. |
| |
| Heat, Drought, Disease Tolerance - These relate to conditions normally experienced in the cornbelt, neither extreme nor non-existent. |
| |
Narrow Row Adaptation and Planting Rate - Both refer to the ability of the hybrid to withstand crowding stress. These ratings should be adjusted to your own conditions, especially in the drier parts of the cornbelt. |
| |
Maturity - Stated in days relative maturity in the normally accepted terms: and in U.S. heat units from plant emergence to physiological maturity. |
| |
Zone Adaption - Keyed to the general Maturity Zone Map ... the first number generally indicates the hybrids best performance area; the hybrid will also perform well in the second zone listed. |
