Maiz Forage Sorghums

Maiz Chop 1

  • Medium-full season forage for ensilage, hay, green chop or grazing
  • Blooms in 70-78 days.
  • Plants can reach a height of 9-11 feet.
  • Optimum tonnage and quality shortly after blooming.
  • Planting rate: For dry land, plant 5-8 pounds per acre in rows, or 8-24 pounds per acre broadcast.
For irrigated, plant 8-12 pounds per acre in rows, or 40-50 pounds per acre broadcast.
  • Higher planting rates will produce finer stems.
  • Excellent bred-in greenbug tolerance.

Maiz Chop 1-S

  • The Sterile version of MAIZ CHOP 1.

Maiz Graiz 1

  • A sorghum sudangrass hybrid for multi-purpose forage for grazing, green chopor hay.
  • Grows to a height of 8-10 feet when unclipped.
  • Can produce up to four hay crops per growing season.
  • High palatability, leaf to stem ratio, feed value and TDN per acre.
  • Planting rate for grazing or hay: 5-6 pounds per acre in rows.
  • 25-30 pounds per acre broadcast.
  • Excellent drought survival and remarkable regrowth ability.
  • Leave six inches stubble when cut or grazed to promote quick regrowth.

Variance from recommended rates may be desirable where precipitation approaches the high or low extemes of a given range or where distribution of moisture is exceptionally good or poor during the growing season. Calibration of planters should be based on seed spacing. Seeding rates based on lbls/acre. Do not take into account the variations in seed/lb. of different sorghum hybrids.
