MAIZ CHOP 1

MAIZ CHOP 1 is a medium-full season forage which blooms in 70-78 days. Under favorable conditions plants reach a height of 9-11 feet. It reaches highest juice and sugar content early in its growth and offers optimum tonnage and silage quality shortly after blooming. For dryland, plant 4-8 pounds per acre in rows and 8-24 pounds broadcast. For irrigation, plant 8-12 pounds per acre in rows and 40-50 pounds per acre broadcast. Although MAIZ CHOP 1 was developed primarily for ensilage, the hybrid is excellent for hay, green chop and grazing. For these uses, higher planting rates will produce finer stems.

MAIZ CHOP 1 has bred-in greenbug tolerance.

MAIZ GRAIZ 1

A sorghum sudangrass hybrid selected as the ideal spring and summer planted multi-purpose forage crop. Its natural genetic hybrid vigor plus the sweet, juicy, succulent, leafy plants offer great palatability for grazing, green chop and high quality hay.

MAIZ GRAIZ 1 grows to a height of 8-10 feet under favorable conditions when not clipped or grazed. It has excellent drought survival and remarkable regrowth ability. Plants have high leaf to stem ratio, providing high tonnage, high feed value and the maximum TDN per acre.

Under favorable conditions, MAIZ GRAIZ 1 often will produce up to four hay crops per growing season. Because of the fast regrowth, conditioning the hay crop speeds curing and facilitates baling. When cut or grazed, six inches of stubble should be left to promote quick regrowth. After cutting, approximately 18" regrowth should be reached before the hybrid is cut or grazed again. After frost, plants should be completely dry before grazing. Seeding rates are 5-6 pounds per acre in rows and 25-30 pounds per acre broadcast for grazing or hay.
