Sup'r Maiz - Waxy Maiz Hybrids
Because we market two types of dent corn hybrids, the letter prefix identifies Moews hybrids as SM (Sup'r Maiz) regular yellow dent hybrids or WM (Waxy Maiz) waxy dent hybrids. Both types of hybrids are developed and tested through the same research program. They are both high yielding, agronomically sound hybrids and either can be used for feeding or marketing through regular channels. But Waxy Maiz kernels have some special characteristics and values which make them particularly useful to wet millers, livestock feeders, and dairymen. In waxy dent corn, the starch portion of the endosperm is composed only of amylopectin molecules. Yellow dent corn is a mixture of roughly 75% amylopectin and 25% amylose. Amylopectin molecules in waxy corn contain as much as 40 times as many glucose units as amylose molecules in regular corn.
Following the two letter prefix are numbers designating specific Moews hybrids that are marketed in bags containing a minimum of 80,000 kernels. As a condition of sale, please note our statement of limited warranty and remedy on Moews order forms and bag tags.
