Grozone Coated

GroZone Coated Alfalfa Seed

Alfalfas with GroZone seed coating bring a valuable option to alfalfa producers.

Inoculating legume seed with rhizobia bacteria to improve nitrogen fixation has been done for years. The GroZone coating allows for increased amounts of rhizobia to be applied while providing a protective layer around the seed to keep the rhizobia from drying out or being destroyed by ultraviolet light. Compounds in the seed coating give added protection to rhizobia.

GroZone helps create a controlled environment for each seed to assist emergence and survival. In Moews field trials GroZone coated Mercury averaged final stand counts 35% higher than regular pre-inoculated seed with the same planting rates.

The GroZone coating makes up approximately one-third of the weight of each bag of seed. Planter setting needs to be opened up about 20% to accommodate the larger size of coated seed to allow planting the same number of acres per bag.
